What kind of concentrate for pax 3

For those of you who choose to vape your concentrates within the PAX 3 concentrate insert, I am trying to find the sweet spot in both the amount of concentrate I put in the insert and at what is the optimum temperature for both a yummy and strong vape session?

Thanks in advance!

For concentrates you need a good 500f minimum.

It has been my experience that concentrates are NOT among the Pax’s strengths. A lot ends up wasted or under utilized IMO. Ditto with the MV1, horrible at concentrates IMO. The heat required is huge, and it pushes all sorts of limits on most flower vapes, by definition mostly designed for flower. I would only use a pax for concentrates if that was the only device I had available. If a gram of concentrate provisions me with “X” happiness, through the Pax it is more like .4X.
In fact, the only flower vape portable I’ve used that sort of does concentrates well, is the FireFly 2. the odd design of its airflow is somewhat conducive to “dabbing” and cleanup afterwards is easy and quick.

Even so, onto generalities. I would load no more than 2 or 3 “bb” size dabs on the pad. Get it hot. Like hot hot. On the Pax, for concentrates, IMO, you can’t set it too hot. Begin with a “cigar style” intermittent toking. get some scorching hot oil built up in the chamber. puf puf puf. vapor. then give it a full SLOW draw. nice 🙂

@ EconMan thanks for taking the time to reply, sounds like I have been doing it wrong temp wise. I think I’ve gotten down my quantities, just need to get the heat going. Will try it out and let you know.

I’m gonna throw this out there. My Mighty does a really great job and it only goes to 410F, but that is shatter so it might work different than syringe. The trick with it is knowing a little goes a long long way.

I was disappointed with the MV1 as far as concentrates go as well. After having a Firefly 2 I was spoiled.

Yeah, for me, 410 is a hot vape. For flower I like to go in at around 380. gives me the taste I like. But one can enhance their vape hits with a little concentrate and pump up the vape temp a bit. 🙂

The thing with the MV1 is that, even if it was awesome at concentrates, which it isn’t, I would never use it because of the cleaning chore. Concentrate vapor is extra sticky and gets into every nook and cranny. The MV1 has lots of nooks and crannies. lol

My FF2 can be cleaned rigorously in two minutes and quick cleaned in 30 secs. And again, its amazing little “reclaim purification” on the mirror lid is just amazing. I doubt they designed it for this, but rather was a happy accident of the design. Regardless, I actually look forward to enough oil building up on the lid that I can scrape off a big hit. “lid hits” are simply a positive externality of the FF2 and are a delightful experience.

You can also do an legit dab on a FF2. I’ve done my beloved “sugar in terp sauce” in it which I prefer to a rig for this purpose. For dabs, I do a dry run of just cigar puffing. get the chamber HOT so the concentrate screen is really hot. drop a dab right on the screen, it will start vaporizing immediately. close the lid, click the heat (you want lots of it) and then start drawing. do let it overheat (the red light will turn on). that’s the magic point. draw harder and steady now and the hit you get will be monster and one that seems to go on forever. You’ll get a rip tastier and more potent than any pen.

In fact, talking about it makes me want one so I’ll load one right now.
